Copperwood

This modest-sized tree grows up to 47 meters (154.2 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 58 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, slanted trunk covered in fine, ridged, brown-green bark, and inside, the dense wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of smooth, miniature, very thick leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are azure and washed-out orange.

In late summer it forms small, amber aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
