Bloodfruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 61 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a thick, straight trunk covered in thick, smooth, dark green bark, and inside, the hard wood is black with white speckles.
The abundance of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with very large amounts of large, thick leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are found in slate and deep red varieties.
In early spring, it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, amber blossoms with perforated petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like blood.
In late autumn it produces very large, circular fruit. The smooth beige skin is delicate and sweet, and the slightly crunchy olive flesh is sour and very dry. The blood red seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
