Indigo Maple

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 484 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, crooked trunk covered in delicate, rough, dark brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is white with black speckles.

The tangled mess of branches are long and thick and are covered with small amounts of smooth, huge, wispy leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are bold yellow at the bottom and brown with indigo dots at the top.

In late summer it forms tiny, red, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It commonly grows in large patches.
It is suitable for making paper
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
