Speckled Red

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This large tree grows up to 82 meters (269.0 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 293 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in thin, ridged, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the very dense wood is white with black speckles.

The small handful of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with handfuls of soft, huge, broad, flat leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are red and brown.

In late summer it forms large, caramel, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It has impressive regenerative properties.
