Goldenleaf

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 35 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous long and flexible, straight stems covered in silky, black bark, and the wood inside is gray.

The branches trail down towards the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of miniature, very narrow and elongated, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid brilliant green or cyan, with gold edges, frail and smooth.

In mid-summer it produces many tiny, white flowers with slender, pointed petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like ashes.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
