Orangefruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 32 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a slender, curved trunk covered in cracked, dark brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is white with black speckles.

The tangled mess of branches are very long, thin and wispy and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, wide leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are beige and bright orange.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of large, white blossoms with umbrella-shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a faint scent that smells like onion.

In early autumn it produces , broad, flat fruit. The smooth white skin is thin and edible when cooked; it is salty and sour, and the slightly crunchy green flesh is sweet and sticky. The silver seeds are tiny and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
