Mahogany

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 61 feet (18.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 57 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, twisting trunk covered in paper-thin, wrinkled, brown and grey bark, and inside, the flexible wood is mahogany-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of large, broad, flat leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are green at the bottom and orange with lilac splotches at the top.

In early spring, it produces dozens of large, brown blossoms with long, tapering petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like soap.

In late summer it produces tiny, broad, flat fruit. The smooth red skin is stretchy and edible when roasted; it is sweet, and the slightly crunchy olive flesh is sour and very juicy. The dark grey seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

The pollen is overwhelmingly toxic to people but not to certain animals.
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
