Bluevine

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 39 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, curved trunk covered in cracked, brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with very large amounts of huge, circular leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are olive on the sides and sky blue at the center.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, bold blue blossoms with wide petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like marzipan.

In early autumn it produces very large, long, narrow fruit. The rough dark grey skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft olive flesh is savoury and very dry. The blood red seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.

It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It is often home to a particular bird species.
It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
