Azureberry

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 55 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in thick, rough, yellow bark, and inside, the very hard wood is mahogany-coloured.

The small handful of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of tiny, slender, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in dark grey, bright green and faded blue varieties.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of giant, turquoise blossoms with teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like rainy days.

In early autumn it produces , circular fruit. The crispy azure skin is tough and inedible, and the crunchy yellow flesh is sweet and dry. The brown seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
