Copperleaf

This short tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 74 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, wavy trunk covered in smooth, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is white.

The sparse amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of crispy, tiny, stiff, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are copper on the sides and orange at the center.

In early spring, it produces balls of tiny, red blossoms with 3 circular shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a soft scent that smells like fermented fruit.

In late summer it forms giant, copper berries.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
