Silverthorn

This average-sized flower grows up to 1.7 feet (51 cm) tall. Its silver stem is very thin, and the small, burgundy leaves are thick with toothed edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Two large flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 29 cm (11.4 inches) wide, with petals that are gold at the sides and dark blue at the center. The flower head is shaped like a tube made up of 11 raised, narrow petals. They are hardy.

It has a weak scent that smells like lemon, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind.
