Crimson Trumpet

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 17 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous branched, slanted stems covered in ridged, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is black.

The branches are long and thin with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of large, long, tapering, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are light brown and crimson, sturdy and clammy.

In mid-summer it produces lots of small, lime flowers with many layers of petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a faint scent that smells like warm cookies.
