Mahogany

This large fruit tree grows up to 37 feet (11.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 27 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, curved trunk covered in paper-thin, smooth, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the very hard wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of huge, broad, flat leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are gray with white tips.

In early spring, it produces many medium-sized, copper blossoms with V-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like fruity.

In early autumn it produces , 8 pointed fruit. The soft yellow skin is thin and inedible, and the crunchy yellow flesh is sweet and sticky. The red seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
