Red Spice Fruit Tree

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 25 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, slanted trunk covered in very thick, waxy, silver and white bark, and inside, the very dense wood is brown.

The tangled mess of branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of tiny, wispy leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either red or bronze, with blue dots.

In early spring, it produces many medium-sized, hazel blossoms with spear shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a fairly strong scent that smells like alcohol.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, finger-like fruit. The clammy subtle red skin is thick and inedible, and the very soft magenta flesh is sweet and spicy and syrupy. The cream seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
