Bloodwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This massive tree grows up to 99 meters (324.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 442 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, angular trunk covered in very thick, rough, brown and grey bark, and inside, the hard wood is white with black speckles.

The sparse patches of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of smooth, huge, sickle shaped leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are green at the bottom and red with blood red dots at the top.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of giant, bronze blossoms with long, tapering petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a weak scent that smells like vomit.

In late summer it forms giant, lime, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for making strong rope
The leaves are excellent for making pulp fibers.
The bark is frequently covered in moss.
