Vinefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 46 feet (14.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 51 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in very thick, wrinkled, dark green bark, and inside, the very dense wood is copper-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches are very long and thin and are covered with very large amounts of large, very thin leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either subtle yellow, or pale green with olive edges.

In early spring, it produces lots of small, pastel blue blossoms with spear shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a fairly strong scent that smells like fruity.

In early winter it produces large, asymmetrical fruit. The fuzzy pale green skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy pale green flesh is bitter and sticky. The slate seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
