Conifruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 30 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, smooth, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is silver.

The numerous branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with handfuls of huge, pleated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either azure, or brown with pale purple splotches.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of tiny, copper blossoms with long, tapering petals. They detach easily and have no scent.

In early autumn it produces very large, arrow-shaped fruit. The fuzzy amber skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy brown flesh is sweet and powdery. The orange seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It can survive a long time without water.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
