Turquoise Plum Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 38 feet (11.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 63 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, wavy trunk covered in delicate, wrinkled, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale brown.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with very large amounts of small, spear shaped leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid turquoise with purple edges.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, copper blossoms with 6 triangular shaped petals. They are hardy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like cherry.

In late summer it produces , perforated fruit. The rubbery pale yellow skin is thin and extremely savoury, and the very soft caramel flesh is sweet and syrupy. The slate seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
