Bloodbloom

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 39 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a flexible, crooked trunk covered in rough, gray bark, and inside, the very dense wood is white.

The small bunches of branches are short and thin and are covered with small amounts of tiny, very thick leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are pink on the edges and lilac at the center.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, copper blossoms with 9 oval-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like blood.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, circular fruit. The crispy turquoise skin is delicate and sweet, and the slightly crunchy olive flesh is slightly spicy and oily. The bronze seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It coexists peacefully with other plants.
