Sapling Onion Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in fine, ridged, silver bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale yellow.

The sparse amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of small, broad, flat leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of gray that gradient shifts to lilac at the top.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, dark grey blossoms with oblong shaped petals. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like onion.

In early summer it produces tiny, needle-like fruit. The sticky azure skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy olive flesh is sweet and sour and powdery. The black seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
