Magenta Spinevine
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The very thick stem is pink-red, and is covered in sharp spines. The wonky, cream trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter in the middle. Its brown branches are short and thin and start growing a quarter of the way up the stem.
The very large amounts of smooth-edged, very thin leaves are generally magenta. They are light, but easily come away when pulled.
It is fast growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are generally magenta; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with 19 raised narrow petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like varnish.
The caudiciform's skin is thin, the pink flesh is rough, and the blue sap is thin.
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
