Copperheart Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 72 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in fine, waxy, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is black with white speckles.
The branches are very long and thin and are covered with copious amounts of small, 3 pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are caramel on the edges and aquamarine at the center.
In early spring, it produces balls of small, copper blossoms with 8 heart-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like old books.
In late autumn it produces large, broad, flat fruit. The leathery azure skin is thin and inedible, and the soft bronze flesh is sour and powdery. The gold seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It can survive a very long time without water.
It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
