Thorned Blue Agave

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This short leaf succulent grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The tapering stem is emerald, and is covered in lots of rigid cream spines. The irregular-edged, long, narrow leaves are blue and green. Thick bunches of them grow from the base in alternating pairs. The leaves are tough, and do not detach easily.

It is quick growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with light brown petals and a peach central disk grow at the top, reappearing once every 9 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 58 curved petals. It has an intensely strong scent that smells like rotten eggs.

The leaf succulent's skin is extremely thick, the muted blue flesh is rough, and the muted blue sap is thin.
