Rose Spine Succulent
Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)This average-sized leaf succulent grows up to 51 feet (15.5 meters) tall. The very thick stem is red, and is covered in dozens of rigid cream spines. The irregular-edged, needle-like leaves are found in cream and silver varieties. Copious amounts of them grow from the base like rose petals. The leaves are flexible, and take some effort to detach.
It is very slow growing, taking 18 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with light brown petals and a peach central disk grow at the top, reappearing once every 4 years. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of widely spaced narrow petals. It has a weak scent that smells like chocolate.
The leaf succulent's skin is tough, the light red flesh is smooth, and the muted blue sap is thin.
