Twistberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 46 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, twisting trunk covered in thick, silky, burgundy bark, and inside, the very hard wood is yellow-brown.

The branches are very short and slender and are covered with handfuls of small, needle-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in indigo, beige and lilac varieties.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of large, vibrant green blossoms with crescent-shaped petals. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like pineapple.

In late autumn it produces small, slender, 3 pointed fruit. The clammy cyan skin is thin and inedible, and the soft blood red flesh is spicy and salty and juicy. The dull orange seeds are small and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It can survive a very long time without water.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
