Bloodberry Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, wonky trunk covered in thin, ridged, yellow bark, and inside, the flexible wood is silver.

The small handful of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of tiny, slender, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are brilliant blue at the bottom and beige with washed-out red lines at the top.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of small, black blossoms with 5 pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like petrol.

In late summer it produces , broad, flat fruit. The fuzzy blood red skin is peel-able and savoury, and the soft blood red flesh is spicy and sour and oily. The orange seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
