Fire Opal Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This small cactus grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The slender, pointed stem is orange-yellow, and is covered in large amounts of fine, bronze, hair-like spines. The spherical body is lilac, and is covered in lots of rigid light brown spines.

It is fast growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with vivid yellow petals and a turquoise central disk grow at the top, reappearing once every 10 years. The flower head is shaped like a dish made up of several raised, round-tipped petals. It has the faintest scent that smells like bonfire smoke.

The cactus's skin is thick, the intense orange flesh is smooth, and the blood red sap is thin.

It can grow in even the most barren lands.
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
