Serpentine Vinefruit

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This huge fruit tree grows up to 61 feet (18.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 33 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in smooth, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale yellow.

The thick clumps of branches are very short and thin and are covered with small bunches of tiny, wide leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in bronze and black varieties.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of tiny, magenta blossoms with 9 crescent-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like rainy days.

In mid-autumn it produces , fan-like fruit. The smooth light brown skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy lilac flesh is salty and very juicy. The orange seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.

Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
