Lilac Vine

Climbing plant type: Vine (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short vine is a quick growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 21 feet (6.4 meters)0. It prefers to grow on rock formations.

It takes 3 months for the green stems to mature, by which point they can reach a diameter of 2 cm (0.8 inches) and are smooth and woody.

The pleated, crispy leaves reach up to 6 inches (15 cm) in length. They are lilac on the sides and olive at the center, and have ripped edges.

During late spring, the vine produces large amounts of small indigo flowers.


It is suitable for making paper
It can absorb up to 9 times its own weight in water.
