Clinging Mangofern

This big fruit tree grows up to 29 feet (8.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 38 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in thin, knobbly, light gray bark, and inside, the hard wood is pine-coloured.

The abundance of branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with sparse amounts of small, triangular leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are solid peach with light brown dots.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of giant, blue blossoms with 3 oblong shaped petals. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like mango.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, slender, 8 pointed fruit. The soft cyan skin is peel-able and sour, and the crunchy subtle red flesh is spicy and dry. The gentle green seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
