Thorned Sunflower

This large caudiciform grows up to 88 feet (26.8 meters) tall. The very thin stem is green or aquamarine, and is covered in lots of flexible beige spines. The wide, cream trunk can grow to as much as 88 feet (26.8 meters) in diameter. Its emerald branches trail down to the ground.

The toothed-edged, long, narrow leaves are solid light yellow with blood red patches. They are flexible, and take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with alternating petals of green and peach, with an olive central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with several tightly layered round-tipped petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like mint.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the gold flesh is rubbery, and the light yellow sap is thin.
