Cottonwood Bush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This giant shrub grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 106 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of knobbly, straight stems covered in delicate, waxy, gray bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are short stubs with thousands of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of small, spear shaped, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid cream or beige, with azure lines, delicate and soft.

It produces lots of small, dull red flowers with long, narrow petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like cotton. In early summer it forms tinycream, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
