Slateleaf Spine Succulent

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This giant leaf succulent grows up to 175 feet (53.3 meters) tall. The very thick stem is gray-green, and is covered in lots of flexible hazel spines. The rounded-edged, stiff, pointed leaves are slate at the bottom and red with white lines at the top. Small amounts of them grow from the base like blades of grass. The leaves are rigid, but easily come away when pulled.

It is quick growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with solid sky blue petals decorated with copper dots and a lime central disk grow at the top, reappearing after 8 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 54 petals. It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like vanilla.

The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the copper flesh is rough, and the cream sap is thin.

It blooms only at night.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
The seeds are toxic to people but not to certain animals.
