Magenta Pine?
Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 33 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is pine-coloured.
The branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with large amounts of tiny, circular leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are hazel with bronze tips.
In early spring, it produces a handful of small, magenta blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a powerful scent that smells like burning wood.
In late autumn it produces tiny, 9 pointed fruit. The sticky pink skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft magenta flesh is savoury and powdery. The slate seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
