Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, twisting trunk covered in paper-thin, waxy, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is mahogany-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with handfuls of huge, stiff, pointed leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in sky blue and light brown varieties.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of medium-sized, light blue blossoms with finger-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like paint.

In mid-autumn it produces small, oval fruit. The fuzzy violet skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft lilac flesh is overwhelmingly savoury and very juicy. The dark brown seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.

The bark is frequently covered in moss.
