Carmelita Vine

This average-sized flower grows up to 11 inches (28 cm) tall. Its burgundy stems grow in bunches of 3 and are thin and straight, and the large, brown leaves are slender, pointed with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

6 to 8 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 25 cm (9.8 inches) wide, with solid caramel petals decorated with blood red dots and a beige central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 32 curved petals. They detach easily.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like perfume, and it has very little pollen, but can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind and is ignored by most insect species.
