Golden Cap Moss

This orange-yellow moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas In marshes, On rotten logs, and In damp forests.
It is enormous, growing up to 1.1 feet (33 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps, and is extremely rigid.
When mature, emerald oblong capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release dozens of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.
