Violet Creeper

Climbing plant type: Creeper (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This big creeper is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 330 feet (100.6 meters) and growing as high as 118 feet (36.0 meters).

It takes 15 months for the pink-red stems to mature, by which point they have tangled themselves into thick mats with a diameter of 7 inches (18 cm) and are rough and woody.

The fan-like, smooth leaves reach up to 2.2 feet (66 cm) in length. They are either violet, or vivid green with grey edges, and have jagged edges.

During late spring, the creeper produces copious amounts of small beige flowers, and during the early summer, after flowering, it produces plenty of small berries.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
