Twistwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 30 meters (98.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 89 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, twisting trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, yellow bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale brown-grey.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with thick bunches of smooth, small, broad, flat leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid olive or black, with pink splotches.

In late summer it forms small, caramel seed pods.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
All parts of the tree are edible.
