Peach Spine Succulent

This small leaf succulent grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is gray-green, and is covered in thousands of flexible peach spines. The ripped-edged, pleated leaves are crimson and purple. Small bunches of them grow from the base in alternating pairs. The leaves are sturdy, and take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are either vivid blue or brown, with a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing after 9 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a heart made up of several widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a faint scent that smells like a newborn baby.

The leaf succulent's skin is thick, the peach flesh is slimy, and the purple sap is thin.
