Twistwood

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 138 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous knobbly, twisting stems covered in delicate, smooth, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is yellow-brown.

The branches trail down across the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of giant, circular, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of lime green that gradient shifts to peach at the top, hardy and soft.

It produces handfuls of small, purple flowers with slender, pointed petals. They fall easily and have the faintest scent that smells like candle wax. In late autumn it forms medium-sizedorange seed pods.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
