Serpentvine

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 154 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the soft wood is silver.

The numerous branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of leathery, huge, 7 pointed leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are found in caramel, grey and dull orange varieties.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, violet blossoms with long, narrow petals. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like new books.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, hazel, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It can grow in even the most barren lands.
