Golden Fruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This large fruit tree grows up to 28 feet (8.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 77 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a very thick, twisting trunk covered in ridged, brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black.
The small handful of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of huge, flame-shaped leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid gold or yellow, with olive edges.
In early spring, it produces several large, bronze blossoms with circular petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like old books.
In mid-summer it produces tiny, spherical fruit. The smooth caramel skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the very soft hazel flesh is sweet and oily. The vibrant yellow seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
The bark is frequently covered in moss.
