Copperbell
Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its green stem is wispy and straight with a curved tip, and the giant, copper leaves are pleated with smooth edges. 25 leaves grow at the base of the stem.
Each stem splits 2 to 5 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with slate petals on the lower layer and turquoise petals decorated with caramel dots on the inner layer. The central disk is silver. The flower head is shaped like a bowl made up of dozens of raised, round-tipped petals. They fall easily.
It has a mildly strong scent that smells like bonfire smoke, and it has lots of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a small species of bird.
It makes excellent hedges.
