Blackleaf Tree

This average-sized tree grows up to 59 meters (193.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 375 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, twisting trunk covered in thick, smooth, black bark, and inside, the light wood is pale brown-grey.

The branches are very short and thin and are covered with copious amounts of smooth, tiny, fan-like leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid bold yellow or gentle green, with black edges.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, grey blossoms with needle-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like new carpet.

In late summer it forms tiny, dark grey berries.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
