Orange Spike

This small caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The narrow stem is orange, and is covered in sharp spines. The straight, bronze trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter at the top. Its emerald branches are short and thin and start growing at the top the stem.

The large amounts of ripped-edged, very narrow and elongated leaves are found in blue and olive varieties. They are resilient, and do not detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 13 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with solid lilac petals decorated with blood red lines and a dark grey central disk, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 42 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight sphere. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like sweat.

The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the amber flesh is leathery, and the beige sap is thin and causes vomiting if consumed.
