Turquoise Cupflower

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its red stems grow in bunches of 4 and are wispy and straight, and the small, gray-green leaves are long, tapering with serrated edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Many giant flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with petals that are generally turquoise; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is shaped like a cup made up of handfuls of tightly layered, narrow petals. They detach easily.

It has a soft scent that smells like fish, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a variety of insects.

The bark is frequently covered in moss.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
