Lilac
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The narrow stem is dark red, and is covered in hundreds of rigid lilac spines. The wonky, bronze trunk can grow to as much as 5 feet (1.5 meters) in diameter at the top. Its gray-green branches are short and thin and start growing at the top the stem.
The handfuls of toothed-edged, spear shaped leaves are lilac and light grey. They are flimsy, but take little effort to detach.
It is very fast growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with petals that are aquamarine on the underside and silver on the top grows at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 37 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like rotting meat.
The caudiciform's skin is nearly impenetrable, the bold green flesh is smooth, and the beige sap is thin.
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
