Black Petal

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.0 foot (30 cm) tall. Its lime green stem is wispy, and the tiny, gray leaves are brown on the underside and are slender, pointed with smooth edges. 25 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Each stem splits 3 to 7 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with black petals and a yellow center. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 37 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are sturdy.

It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like citrus, and it has very little pollen, but can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by a small species of bird.


It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
