Copper

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, twisting trunk covered in hard, cracked, dark green bark, and inside, the flexible wood is pale yellow.

The excessive amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of huge, broad, flat leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid brown with aquamarine zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of tiny, light grey blossoms with asymmetrical petals. They are very delicate and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like glue.

In late autumn it produces tiny, stiff, pointed fruit. The soft copper skin is peel-able and inedible, and the soft pink flesh is very savoury and powdery. The red seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if cut.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
